what is art brut photography all about?
With the first participation of an art brut gallery at Paris Photo, it is time to ask ourselves if photography is a too rarely studied part of the field of art brut or if the field itself is a forgotten expression of the history of photography. Conversation on Saturday, November 13 from 2 to 3pm with the participation of Marc Donnadieu (moderator), Corinne Rondeau, Bruno Decharme and Christian Berst.
Two years after the exhibition « Photo | Brut, Collection Bruno Decharme & Compagnie » which brought together some 50 brut photographers during the Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles 2019, we can ask ourselves if these creators, by crossing the threshold of the Venice Biennale, MoMA or Pompidou, have already revolutionized the history of photography? Or do they simply allow us to shed new light on practices that are part of what Harald Szeemann described as individual mythologies?
