Japanese company Heralbony is launching an international art prize to support the careers of neurodivergent artists. Until March 15, 2024, artists wishing to develop their artistic careers internationally are invited to apply via the Heralbony website. One winner will be awarded the Grand Prize: 3,000,000 Japanese yen (approx. 18,000 euros), while the other winners will be eligible for Corporate Awards.

We are pleased to announce the participation of Christian Berst as a member of the jury for the HERALBONY Art Prize 2024, alongside :

  • Hiromi Kurosawa, Chief Curator of the Kanazawa Museum of 21st Century Contemporary Art / Advisor to HERALBONY Co., Ltd.
  • Katsuhiko Hibino, artist, President of Tokyo University of the Arts
  • Emina Morioka, Director, LVMH Métiers d’Art Japan

Heralbony was founded by twins Takaya and Fumito Matsuda. “HERALBONY” is an unknown word first written in a notebook by Shota, the founders’ autistic older brother. When asked about its meaning, Shota replied “I don’t know”.
In creating Heralbony, Takaya and Fumito aim to give meaning to works by neurodivergent artists that are rarely considered. The two founders were awarded the Forbes 30 UNDER 30 JAPAN prize in 2019.
