Anton Hirschfeld
kind of blue
The gallery is dedicating its second solo exhibition to Anton Hirschfeld, with the support of the Cnap.
The works presented in kind of blue mark an important stage in his journey. They reveal a body of work that has reached maturity, where the deep resonances between sound and image are replayed with sensitivity.
Gradually moving away from the urban structures of his early work, he now explores abstract spaces freed from topographical landmarks, where colors oscillate between depth and flatness. His compositions, always structured around a ternary rhythm, extend the logic of the grid while introducing a poetic tension between formal fixity and vaporous lightness.
This exhibition will also be the occasion to unveil the work commissioned from Anton Hirschfeld by Maison Guerlain, as part of an unprecedented artistic collaboration between the Art, Culture & Heritage and Human Resources Departments, echoing its HUMAN* program.
The work will join the Maison Guerlain collection, bearing witness to its commitment to inclusive and inspiring creation.
A limited edition of five numbered prints is available, accompanied by a text by Serge Toubiana.
The HUMAN social initiative, launched at Guerlain in partnership with the association Vivre Et Travailler Autrement (VETA), promotes the workplace inclusion of adults with moderate to severe autism.
Discovered thanks to the writer Nancy Huston, he is one of the youngest artists represented by the gallery. With his cursive writing, Anton Hirschfeld meshes lists of names, playlists or guests in processional columns, to form the unexpected frame of his works. As if the pastel, acrylic and ink that cover them were ordered according to secret links. First presented to the public in 2017 at the gallery, in march 2023, it was the subject of a documentary entitled “Le Voyage d’Anton” directed by Mariana Loupan with Schuch production.
