second edition
For the second edition of the Contemporary Art and Design Fair, which will take place at the hangar 14 (stand R+1 52) from 5th to 7th May 2023, the gallery will exhibit works of Kunizo Matsumoto, Yukio Miyashita, Masaki Mori, Momoko Nakagawa, Yuichi Saito, Hideaki Yoshikawa and Joaquim Vicens Gironella.
These last years, Japanese art brut has been admired at the Venice Biennale (2013), Maison Rouge (Paris, 2015), Lieu Unique (Nantes, 2018) and in Japon brut (in 2019, at the gallery), before the Centre Pompidou acquired two of the six artists we exhibit at BAD+: Yuichi Saito and his textual scratches, and Kunizo Matsumoto and his fascinated writings. In this thematic exhibition, we also present Hideaki Yoshikawa’s clay characters, Masaki Mori’s molecular swarms, Yukio Miyashita’s vernacular calligraphies and Momoko Nakagawa’s undulations and stamps. So many ways to sublimate the isolation, far from the world and its standards.
Echoing the exhibition joaquim vicens gironella: lost paradise currently on view at the gallery, four cork sculptures of this art brut classic will also be presented.
