A Walk on the Wild Side : Arts from the Collection de l’Art Brut and Elsewhere
In the spirit of the exhibition The Collages of Ding Len, the Collection de l’Art Brut presents in Shanghai, in partnership with the Power Station of Art, the exhibition A Walk on the Wild Side: Artworks from the Collection de l’Art Brut and Elsewhere, from July 12 to October 12, 2025.
For the first time, Art Brut works drawn exclusively from the Lausanne museum’s collections will be shown at the Power Station of Art, the largest state-run museum in China dedicated to contemporary art.
Following an invitation to collaborate on a project dedicated to Art Brut, a selection of 234 works from the Collection de l’Art Brut has been woven. The presentation is complemented by works from five Chinese Art Brut artists, gathered by the Power Station of Art.
These creations shed light on the relationship these self-taught artists have with the world around them, revealing a dialogue between the intimacy of their practices and the universal messages conveyed through works made on the margins of the official art world.
The exhibition is accompanied by photographic portraits of Art Brut artists taken by Swiss photographer Mario Del Curto, as well as photographs of Art Brut environments in Europe and the United States, sourced from various archives. Archival materials also accompany a chronological section devoted to the history of Art Brut.
