over 50 brut artists in l’esprit singulier
Curator: Martine Lusardy
For 5 months, the Halle Saint-Pierre showcases a selection of works by 86 artists from the prestigious Treger Saint Silvestre collection, a jewel of brut and singular art housed at the Centro de Arte Oliva in Portugal.
Started in 1980, the collection of artists Antonio Saint Silvestre and Richard Treger gathers over 1500 works of brut and singular art. In 2017, the couple received the award for the best private collection in Portugal. In the exhibition L’Esprit Singulier, classics of brut art such as Henry Darger, Aloïse Corbaz, Adolf Wölfli, James Edward Deeds, Charles Dellschau, Pietro Ghizzardi, Giovanni Battista Podestà, and Carlo Zinelli coexist with more contemporary figures like Jorge Alberto Cadi, Franco Bellucci, Jesuys Crystiano, Tomasz Machciński, Marilena Pelosi, Luboš Plný, and George Widener.
